Rules

Basketball is a sport in which two teams compete to score points by shooting the ball into the opposing team's basket. Each team consists of 12 players, with 5 players from each team on the court at any one time. The game lasts 4 quarters of 10 minutes each. The time for a team to take a shot is 24 seconds. If the score is tied at the end of the fourth quarter, the game continues with as many extra periods of 5 minutes each as are necessary to break the tie. The team with the most points wins.

The game starts with a toss up in the centre circle between a player from each team. Each team has 5 time-outs during the 4 quarters and 1 time-out in each overtime period.

Points are awarded as follows
– 1 point – for a ball released by a free-throw;
– 2 points – if the ball is released from the 2-point zone;
– 3 points – for a ball released from the 3-point zone.

The team with the most points at the end of the period wins.
