World Friendship Games 2024 Launches Volunteer Recruitment

More than 7,000 volunteers will take part in the biggest multi-sport event of the year.

The recruitment of volunteers for the World Friendship Games 2024 officially began on 6 March in Sochi as part of the World Youth Festival.

Since then, certified volunteer selection centres have been collecting and processing applications to build a team of some 7,500 volunteers who will help organise and take part in the biggest multi-sport event of the year - the first ever World Friendship Games. The results of the competitive tender to select volunteer recruitment centres were announced before recruitment began. An unprecedented 470 organisations from all 8 federal districts of the country participated in the tender.

A special ceremony was held to mark the official start of volunteer recruitment. Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the World Friendship Games 2024 Organising Committee, and Tiger, the Games mascot, jointly pressed the button to launch the recruitment campaign.

"We officially announce the launch of the Volunteer Programme! Our country has set itself the goal of organising a great sports event, and we can only do this with your help and support. I invite you to join the friendly team of Games volunteers and become part of a unique and historic event!”

The festive launch concluded with a speech from Volunteer Programme ambassador Klava Koka, who was greeted with a round of applause from the audience. The audience, gathered in the Sirius Medal Square, then lit hundreds of flashlights on their mobile phones.

Volunteers can prove their skills in 20 functional areas. Candidates need to register on the DOBRO.RU website and should be able to work in a team. English language skills are required for some functional areas. More information on the selection criteria and stages of the selection process can be found on the programme’s website.

The World Friendship Games 2024 will be held in Moscow and Ekaterinburg from 15 to 29 September. The Games sports programme includes 36 sports events. Leading athletes from all over the world will participate in the Games.
